Nothing is more iconic than the view from a wedding at Theater on the Lake! Maddy + Kevin chose the perfect spot to get married on a gorgeous June summer day.

Their Story

They met in college studying abroad in Australia and became close friends. Afterwards, Maddy + Kevin stayed close friends through the rest of their time at Notre Dame and post grad, even though they lived in separate cities. Maddy eventually moved to Chicago at the end of 2021 (Kevin was already living there) and the two of them spent a lot of time hanging out together. Eventually they started dating and it wasn’t long before they got engaged!

Getting Ready, First Look + Portraits

The couple got ready separately. Kevin spent the morning with his brother and other family members at a hotel downtown while Maddy got hair and makeup done at their apartment in Lincoln Park. Once ready, Kevin traveled up north to meet outside of their place for the couple’s first look. We all got on the transportation and took more portraits at South Pond before heading over to the venue for family photos.

Theater on the Lake Wedding

Having a wedding at Theater on the Lake is unlike any other venue in Chicago. On your right, you have the gorgeous skyline. Straight behind the altar is the lakefront, filled with folks also enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. The experience is definitely unique, but also has the ability to make all involved feel connected with the city.

Once the ceremony concluded, guests continued to soak up the sun for an outdoor cocktail hour. Once everyone took their seats inside for dinner, Maddy + Kevin made their entrance and shared their first dance as husband and wife. Dinner and speeches soon followed along with some sunset photos by the lake. The dance floor opened up as the live band, Rod Tuffcurls & the Bench Press, played all of the couple’s favorites. It truly felt like a concert. I loved being a part of this Theater on the Lake wedding and I hope to get the chance to shoot here again soon!
