On the last Thursday evening of summer, Maura + Matt said “I do” under a gorgeous ivy wall during their Big Delicious Planet wedding. From the moment Maura got into her dress to the last few bites of dinner, the entire day was filled with magic.
“We were born only 2 days and 20 miles apart, but didn’t meet until we were 31 in Chicago,” Maura said. “It was on an Easter weekend when most of our friends were out of town. There were, however, a few friends in town who put together a small game night. We met and bonded over our love of audiobooks and Ready Player One. Matt got a little too drunk and stumbled home without us exchanging numbers. I wasn’t ready to let the chance for something more to slip through my fingers! I asked my friend who threw the game night to set us up. Our first date was on Earth Day in Logan Square at an event to pick up trash in the neighborhood. We ended up spending the whole day together because we couldn’t stand to say goodbye! We have been inseparable ever since.
For our second anniversary in 2020, Matt brought up shopping for wedding rings… but everywhere was still closed so we put our plans on hold. Fast forward a few months later, when Matt popped the question in our kitchen! We were both in our pajamas and the ring had been delivered in the mail that morning! I’m so happy to have found my person, my best friend, the love of my life.”
Maura + Matt got ready together in their hotel room in the Hoxton. It meant a lot to the two of them to share that moment together! After some dress help from Maura’s mother Tammy, we ventured out for some portraits around Logan Square. The couple had often frequented Lula Café when they had lived in the area, so we made sure to take some photos in front of the restaurant. We had called ahead earlier in the day for the chance to pop inside, which was a great opportunity to snag some pictures in the best seats in the house! After more photos by the infamous “Greetings from Chicago” mural, it was time to head over to their Big Delicious Planet Wedding.
The couple were married by the bride’s father on a gorgeous evening in Chicago. As the sun began to set, Maura + Matt exchanged their beautiful vows in front of close friends and family. After their big kiss, the wedding guests filed toward the front of the venue to grab cocktails. Dinner soon followed. Maura’s sister made a speech, the couple smooched MANY times after friends clinked their glasses with forks, and everyone present had the best time. This Big Delicious Planet wedding was a magical affair, something I could only dream of. Love and sunshine encompassed the entire day for Maura + Matt. Congrats on a beautiful wedding!
