Everything about this Lake Geneva Engagement session was brilliant. Our schedules had to line up perfectly to make this happen, so the fact that we had the best weather imaginable really let us know that the universe was on our side. I’m pretty sure that Elisa + Cole are secret models, because they were such naturals in front of the camera.

I have lots of couples who don’t live in the Chicago area but still want engagement photos in the area. Elisa + Cole live out in Colorado but were coming into town for some wedding planning. When the couple and I initially talked about scheduling, we had to work around some previous appointments I had. I was so thrilled when we were able to pick a date. My fingers were crossed that it wouldn’t rain!

Lake Geneva Engagement Session

While I love photographing engagement sessions in the city, there’s something magical about heading out up north and into the country. When we were planning locations, Elisa talked about how amazing it would be to have a session in a sunflower field. I’m so happy she found Von Bergen’s Country Market. They allowed us to take photos around their property after they closed. This was a huge benefit to us, because then we were able to enjoy the place without anyone else around.

Our next stop was just 25 minutes north in Lake Geneva. One of Elisa’s friends has family property on a gorgeous small street that went right to the water. Everyone was so nice in letting us hang out on the private road. Some neighbors even came down to watch us take photos! As the setting sun dipped beyond the horizon, Elisa asked if they could jump into the water. “HELL YES” I screamed! I’ve been itching to have folks jump into a lake during a session, so I was over the moon that Elisa + Cole were down. And the photos? Truly breathtaking. This Lake Geneva engagement session is one of my favorites of 2024.
