Elizabeth + David had the most amazing Greenhouse Loft Wedding. Everything about this day was planned with one thing in mind: a party to remember!

Their Story

“We first met at Nick’s Beer Garden in winter of 2015 after meeting up with mutual friends,” Elizabeth told me. “There were then several missed opportunities for a follow up connection. That was until a chance encounter on July 16, 2016 where I attended the 30th Birthday of David’s close friend. While the exact details of this night are a bit fuzzy (started at the Vig & ended at a 4am bar in Chicago), it was clear that David was smitten. After a few days of texting, David asked me on their first official date, which was July 27th at Parlor Pizza on Division. From that point on, we went on several dates, attended concerts, and shared events. During this time, I kept referring to David as my ‘man-friend’ to avoid my mother + sister doing too much social media digging! Of course, we became boyfriend/girlfriend by the end of the year.

Over the next few years we would travel, eat, share memories across the city and around the world! In 2018 we moved in together in Bucktown and in 2019 we adopted the best dog ever: Tucker ‘The Vig’ Chizzard. One more move, one pandemic, and lots of board games + shared bottles of wine later, David asked me to marry him on New Year’s Eve 2020 at our home playing cards and hanging out with Tucker!”

Getting Ready, First Look + Portraits

The couple got ready in separate rooms at the Hotel at Midtown. Elizabeth’s room was the penthouse– 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and 2 floors in addition to a private balcony with an unobstructed view of the skyline. If anyone reading this is looking for a sweet getting-ready location, this is IT! We played around with the gorgeous light as Elizabeth posed in her underdress (which honestly could have been a wedding dress all in itself). As her maid of honor helped her put on her stunning vintage dress, the boys took whiskey shots a few floors below. Once everyone was ready, they all came up to the second floor of the penthouse for the first look. We took a few more portraits then hopped on the bus waiting for us downstairs.

We took some photos near the Nature Museum at the North Pond in Lincoln Park. You definitely can’t tell in the photos, but it was chilly! All of the bridesmaids huddled in their jackets when they weren’t getting their photo taken. To Elizabeth, however, it might as well been 70 degrees. We took advantage of the gorgeous scenery then drove back over to the venue.

Greenhouse Loft Wedding

“Quick + dirty” were Elizabeth’s exact words used to describe the ceremony. We spent just about 15 minutes outside watching the couple say I do. Of course, the veil tried *very* hard to be the star of the show as the bridesmaids held it down so it wouldn’t fly away. Once the couple was married, everyone filed inside for cocktail hour (which ended up being cocktail hour and 45 minutes because of how quick the ceremony was!).

After guests sat for dinner, the couple entered the center of the room for an epic first dance. A buffet-style dinner followed along with speeches. Elizabeth then changed into a STUNNING reception dress so she could dance with all of her friends. But it was toward the end of the night that the couple announced the best surprise: a mini hotdog stand! I was OBSESSED! I managed to snap a few photos of the newlyweds in the photo booth before saying my goodbyes.

This Greenhouse Loft wedding is one I’ll remember forever. Congrats Elizabeth + David! xx
