This Loft Lucia wedding was truly perfect combination of easy-going and fun! Lissah + Matt curated a day that was all about them in every way possible.
“We met online!” Lissah told me. “Facebook to be exact. Our shared interest in Jung’s Psychological Types placed us both in a discussion group where we first became friends. We quickly discovered we shared similar world views and values. Not only in our similarities– funny enough, our differences also greatly complimented each other. Talking to him became the best part of my day. We’ve been each other’s best friend for almost 9 years. We are excited to be getting married on our 8 year anniversary!”
The couple both got ready at the same Airbnb in the West Loop, not far from the venue. While Lissah finished her hair and makeup downstairs, Matt hung out upstairs so he wouldn’t see her before their first look (and to comfort their little dog Chi Chi!). I have to say– Lissah’s wedding crown was AMAZING! My favorite hair accessory of 2022 by far. Before she saw Matt, Lissah had a first look with her dad and gave him some very special engraved cufflinks. Once they had their moment, Lissah + Matt had their very sweet first look together. Matt also got a pair of engraved cufflinks!
We then drove over to the Garfield Park Conservatory for portraits. The group of us were definitely grateful to have chosen that spot ahead of time because of the weather! Luckily for us, the conservatory always offers a great spot to take photos no matter what’s happening outside. Once we had our fill of plants, we left to go to the venue.
We arrived at Loft Lucia and took a few family photos upstairs while guests arrived downstairs. Once it was time, everyone took their seats and the processional began. This is where it gets fun to have little ones involved in the wedding. The ring bearers and the flower girls were so cute! They made the perfect welcome for Lissah to walk down the aisle with her dad. The couple read passages from a special book, said their vows, kissed, and were officially married! They walked back up the aisle and took some time to themselves while guests went upstairs for cocktail hour.
The reception began with cake cutting and a first dance from Lissah + Matt, followed by dinner and a speech from Lissah’s cousin. The newlyweds then danced with their parents to open up the dance floor. I took the couple outside for a few minutes for some night portraits on the terrace before I took some photos of Lissah getting a tarot card reading. I’ve never encountered this service at a wedding before but I would LOVE to see it again! I thought it was a super cool idea. I loved that Lissah + Matt leaned into that astrological and spiritual part of themselves. A very unique touch to their Loft Lucia wedding.
I loved spending time with these two. They moved out of state immediately after the wedding, so I can’t wait to follow them on socials to see how amazing their lives are! :)
