Sarah + Drew had the perfect springtime Lacuna Lofts wedding! From the gorgeous March weather to the epic sunset portrait session, everything about this day was absolutely breathtaking.

Their Story

While Sarah and Drew attended the same college for four years, they didn’t actually meet until mutual friends introduced them at a bar in Nashville over Fall Break their senior year. They became inseparable soon after their return from Nashville and started dating before Christmas Break. After a year of long-distance dating, Sarah moved up to Minneapolis for graduate school at the University of Minnesota. During those two years, Sarah and Drew spent endless days hiking, visiting local breweries, and planning over-the-top quarantine date nights. Like many couples, they also adopted a Covid-dog named Teddy that they adore. After Sarah’s graduation from the U, the trio moved down to Chicago and have lived there ever since.

On July 8th, 2022, after a week of visiting some old spots in Minneapolis, Drew proposed to Sarah at the park where they walked Teddy every morning and night when they lived there. Drew got her to turn around and look away by shouting that there was a bald eagle up in a tree along the river (a common sight, apparently) while a surprise photographer got into position. Before Drew could even ask the question, Sarah said “yes, yes, oh my gosh yes!” Drew and Sarah spent the next two hours FaceTiming all of their family and friends to deliver the exciting news.

Getting Ready, First Look + Portraits

The couple prepped for their big day at the Marriott Marquis Chicago in separate spaces. Sarah is one of 5 girls and her sisters were all her bridesmaids! They even made her a scrapbook to celebrate the occasion. It was clear that this family had a lot of love. Once Sarah had a first look with her dad, we went around the corner so she and Drew could have their own moment together. We then went to take some portraits at Cheney Mansion before going to St. Giles Catholic Church for their ceremony.

Lacuna Lofts Wedding

I traveled with the wedding party in their party trolley from Oak Park to Lacuna Lofts in Pilsen for their reception. This space is covered with unique murals, so I was definitely on board when Sarah + Drew told me they wanted photos there. Cocktail hour turned into dinner, where the couple entered and had their first dance. After some speeches and a truly *incredible* sunset portrait session on the rooftop, the couple opened the dance floor with some parent dances. Later in the evening, Sarah changed her dress and brought out a cutout of their dog, Teddy! These newlyweds clearly have a great support system and a great group of friends who partied with them all night at their Lacuna Lofts Wedding. Congrats again to Sarah + Drew!
