Allie + Kess’ Kilbuck Creek wedding was filled to the brim with love. Every detail the brides planned out was made with their loved ones in mind to ensure that this would be a memorable celebration.
Kilbuck Creek was the perfect setting for Allie + Kess and their friends. The couple is a part of a big friend group who all stayed on the property for the weekend. The main lodge has a number of bedrooms with bunkbeds, a large kitchen, and a master suite. Everyone was hanging out and getting ready in different rooms when photography coverage started.
Allie + Kess got ready away from each other so they could surprise each other with their outfits. Right before their first look, Allie had a first look with her dad on the balcony. After a few shared tears, the two then each took a Fireball shot! Once Kess was dressed, she closed her eyes and waited at the bottom of the stairs for Allie. Sydney, a close friend of the couple, led Allie down the stairs while she kept her eyes shut. When they both opened their eyes, neither could stop smiling or crying.
We then took some portraits with just the couple followed by the full wedding party (which was referred to as the “dream team”). The brides wanted us to make sure we got all of the important details, including photos of the friendship bracelets, bucket hats, and matching sneakers. Kess then surprised some family + friends with framed photos on pins of their loved ones who had passed away. I’ve never seen a more personalized or meaningful gift at a wedding. After a few family photos, the couple tucked away as guests took their seats for the ceremony.
Allie + Kess walked down the aisle with their parents by their side. Because of how narrow the space was between the pews, the brides made the decision ahead of time to split and walk on each side of the ceremony at the same time and meet in the middle. To them, this represented their equality as partners. Their ceremony was filled with love, laughter, and tons of tears. We heard a few readings from both friends and family, personal vows from the couple, and the roar of the crowd when they kissed.
Cocktail hour was held in the same building as the reception. Guests were able to enjoy snacks and cocktails while mingling outside. Instead of a guestbook, the couple invited folks to sign corn hole boards with their initials. Their reception details included embroidered table numbers, post-it notes they’ve written to each other over the years, and lots of photos of Allie + Kess. After some creative entrances (including a sing-a-long to “Let’s Get Down to Business” from Mulan), parents and friends shared a few speeches. The conclusion of dinner lead to some special dances, followed by a T shirt toss into the crowd.
Once the dance floor opened up, Allie + Kess got *real* tattoos in the handwriting of the other. The two then changed into their second outfits before hitting the dance floor. The newlyweds spent the rest of the night partying with their friends and enjoying donuts! This Kilbuck Creek wedding was definitely one I won’t be forgetting any time soon.
