The Joinery Chicago Wedding | Brock + Geoff

Brock + Geoff’s Jewish Joinery Chicago Wedding was something out of a fairytale. Every detail was flawless!

Their Story

“We met on the Riverwalk in downtown Chicago in May of 2018. Brock was taking lunch away from the nearby office where he worked. Geoff was reading and killing time before his train back to Milwaukee after seeing Jesus Christ Superstar. We struck up a conversation and got each other’s number before we departed. Three weeks later, Geoff came back to Chicago for our first date and we started doing alternating weekends– some in Milwaukee and some in Chicago. We both love biking and trains, so we would take our bikes back and forth on the Hiawatha. During the pandemic, Brock moved up to Milwaukee so we could be together. This was our first time living together full-time. In mid 2021, Geoff sold his house and car in Milwaukee and we moved back to Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood.”

Portraits

The grooms got ready in their apartment together before we went over to the Garfield Park Conservatory for portraits. Because of Brock + Geoff’s love for nature, the conservatory has always been an important place to them as a couple. It was a must for photos! After we finished there, we drove over to Humboldt Park for some bird watching. The grooms told me that they spend a lot of their time looking for rare birds in that park specifically, so we wanted to capture some photos of them participating in their favorite activity. I love that they even brought their binoculars along!

Something else to know about Brock + Geoff– they LOVE to dance and don’t care if anyone is watching. I caught a few moves of theirs throughout the day, many of which are some of my favorite photos from the wedding.

The Joinery Chicago Wedding

Once we finished family photos at the Joinery Chicago, the grooms signed their gorgeous Ketubah with their close family present. Brock + Geoff then walked each other down the aisle for their ceremony, which was officiated by Rabbi Andrea Cosnowsky. The couple drank from the Kiddush cup, exchanged rings, and stepped on the glass to officially make them husbands! A fun cocktail hour followed, which featured decadent appetizers from one of my favorite Chicago catering companies, Big Delicious Planet. A few speeches kicked off the reception, which lead to one of the most delicious buffets I’ve ever seen!

After the newlyweds cut the cake, they had their first dance to the classic tune “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis. At one point they invited a family member and his new wife to dance with them. The couple had told me that this couple got married during the pandemic and never had a first dance, so they wanted to make sure they were able to get one! It wouldn’t be a Jewish wedding without the Hora, so naturally everyone participated in lifting the grooms during the traditional song. The rest of the evening was spent drinking, dancing, and congratulating Brock + Geoff on their amazing Joinery Chicago Wedding. Mazel Tov!
