Rebecca + John’s Common House Richmond wedding was SO dreamy! I loved seeing their vision come to life with their unique concept and colors.
“Shout out to Tinder for this match!” Rebecca told me. “After learning we have the same absurd sense of humor, we met up for our first date in November of 2017. I almost ruined things by friend-zoning John the next day, but fate has its way. As similar as our souls were, we knew we’d be friends if nothing else, and continued to spend time together amicably and became integrated into each other’s social circles. Friendship is truly the best foundation for love, as we became inseparable and started dating in earnest the following May. The way every step of our relationship has unfolded has felt as natural as breathing. People always say, ‘you just know,’ when referring to the person they married, and it sounds like magic. But the reality is when you find someone who makes you laugh, who challenges you to grow and be a better person, and who you can’t imagine living without, it’s a lot easier to say ‘you just know,’ and we…we know.”
The day was STUNNING– 75 degrees and sunny in the beautiful city of Richmond, Virginia. Rebecca got ready at the Quirk Hotel while John prepped for the day at Common House. Once everyone was dressed, John walked the block over to the Quirk rooftop for the first look. It was such a sweet moment with one of the best views in the city! We then strolled on back over to Common House to take some family photos and to check out the ceremony setup. When I tell you that all of our jaws DROPPED at the sight of the unbelievable florals! The design was so creative and I truly have never seen anything like it. Every single detail of this wedding was noteworthy, from Rebecca’s “Ride or Die” veil to the image of John’s late father on his boutonnière.
The rumors are true: Rebecca + John had TWO weddings! The first was performed by Rebecca’s cousin and the second by the couple’s good friend Ilona. For reasons personal to the family, this was how it was meant to be. It was so fun to watch them have both an intimate ceremony with just close friends + family as well as a huge celebration just an hour later! After the couple kissed (twice), guests made their way to an upstairs floor of Common House for cocktail hour. Before everyone came down for the reception, I got the chance to capture the gorgeous room details. Everything was breathtaking!
After hearing speeches and cutting the cake, we all made our way outside for dancing. Nick Miller, a friend of the newlyweds, played his guitar and sang “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain for the bride + groom’s first dance. Once parent dances were complete, the REAL party kicked off! The DJ was great– the dance floor was packed the whole night. Rebecca + John’s incredible Common House Richmond wedding ended with an epic petal toss exit. Did I attend the afterparty? Absolutely. But sorry folks, all photos of that part of the night will forever stay on our phones.
Congrats 1,000,000% over to these extraordinary people. Can’t wait to see what their future holds! xx
