Sam + Freddy’s wedding at the BRIX on the Fox was such a fun day. These two and their families definitely know how to throw a good party. They even had churros and ice cream!
Sam and Freddy met freshman year at Glenbard North High School when they were 15 years old. They had Geometry Honors together and Sam had forgotten to do her homework. After asking Freddy if she could borrow his homework to copy it before class, she LOST Freddy’s copy of the homework! Despite the fact that Freddy couldn’t turn in his work, he was all smiles. As it turns out, Freddy was already looking for an excuse to talk to Sam. He would later tell her that he fell in love with her black hair and glasses that she rocked every day until senior year.
It wasn’t until Senior year of high school that their bond began to transform from a friendship to a relationship. They went to senior year homecoming and prom together. On the day that Freddy left for DePaul University, they made their relationship official. And the rest is history!
Sam + Freddy both started their day at a nearby hotel. The girls got their hair + makeup done in a conference room downstairs while the boys hung out in one of the rooms upstairs. The bride and her crew arrived at the BRIX on the Fox first, utilizing the getting ready space to put on her dress and do a first look with her bridesmaids and father. Freddy arrived soon after and waited for Sam under a nearby tree for their first look. After some private vows, we were joined by their wedding party for portraits and eventually family photos inside.
Their gorgeous ceremony was followed by a really fun cocktail hour. The couple had brought in a local mariachi band to perform for everyone. This was just one of many great homages to their Mexican heritage. Once the couple cut their cake, guests enjoyed listening to a few speeches while eating dinner. Sam + Freddy shared a first dance to “You Send Me” by Sam Cooke before dancing with their parents.
This was followed by a Mexican tradition called The Sea Snake Dance or La Vibora de la Mar. The couple stood on opposite chairs and used the bride’s veil to create an arch while folks ran underneath and try to break the arch as the music got faster and faster. It was so fun to watch and photograph! The rest of the evening was spent enjoying the dessert and the dance floor. This wedding at the BRIX on the Fox was epic, and definitely not one I’ll forget anytime soon.
