What’s says “I want photos in Chicago” more than a North Avenue Beach engagement session? Besides taking a selfie with Michael Jordan, I can’t really think of a better way to celebrate this great city!

Washington Square Park

Becky + Sean told me that they got engaged on September 15th, 2022. Excuse me, but that’s my birthday! I knew that our time together for their engagement session would be fate. So of course, we met at the place where it all started, Washington Square Park in River North. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend grabbing some food at a local café nearby and popping down on one of the benches to people watch. It’s exactly how Becky + Sean spent most of their days during the thick of the pandemic, so naturally Sean picked this location back in late summer to ask Becky to marry him.

We spend the first part of their engagement session strolling around the park, giggling and chatting as I photographed these being super lovey-dovey. I mean, they really made the task effortless– just look at how cute they are!

North Avenue Beach Engagement Session

We went over to North Avenue Beach to get catch the sunlight at just the right time. We were really lucky with the weather AND the sunset. Not only was it an unusually mild day in November, but having very few clouds in the sky meant that the light was absolutely perfect. The way the rays reflected off the skyline truly embodied golden hour.

Of course, the evening wouldn’t have been complete without a champagne pop! I have a really great method I share with couples in order to get the photos *just right.* A lot of the coaching includes how the bottle is held, where everybody stands, and reminding the couple to smile no matter what! Becky + Sean were definitely professionals. They pulled off an absolutely gorgeous spray! We then ran around the lakefront and took more portraits by the water (featuring Sean’s University of Michigan hat!). We finished off their North Avenue Beach engagement session just as the sun reached the horizon.

Becky + Sean are the sweetest people in the world. The BIGGEST congrats to these two! xx
