This Acadia National Park elopement is officially the new definition of “EPIC.” Claire + Amelia wanted to make sure they tied the knot in a place that that was not only meaningful to them, but insanely beautiful.
These two had a classic case of friends-first, girlfriends-second kind of relationship. Claire described it perfectly: “Rather than love at first sight, it was more like months of obsessive friendship. I thought Amelia was in love with me (I was correct), but Amelia tried to play it cool and be normal friends who spent absolutely all our free time together. Eventually, we decided to do the scary thing of turning a friendship into a relationship. Six years later, we’re still best friends and are committing to spend all of our time together forever!”
The couple got ready at a property down the street from Claire’s grandparents. Being from the East Coast, Claire grew up going to Maine on family vacations. She and Amelia always knew that they wanted to get married in this special part of the country, so a ceremony on the waterfront made perfect sense for the occasion. After Amelia zipped up Claire’s dress, the two showed off their wedding day outfits to their close friends and family. After a few family photos, guests gathered under a tree by the waterfront to watch Claire + Amelia’s wedding ceremony. I’m pretty sure everyone was crying, including myself. After they made it official, we gathered for more family photos and the couple signed their license with their witnesses. We all then drove to dinner at a local restaurant to enjoy a classic Maine meal before portraits!
After a few drinks and some lobster bisque (I know it’s summer, but this was the BEST goddamn soup I’ve ever had), I took Claire + Amelia to Acadia. This park is… incredible. It’s one of those amazing places where you could pull off almost anywhere and see a life-changing view of the ocean. I drove around the day before to scout out my favorite spots, and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We ended the night with some sparkler fun in the yard where they got married. All in all, this Acadia National Park elopement was out of this world. I really think the photos speak for themselves when it comes to this legendary weekend in Maine. I’m literally dying to go back.
Claire + Amelia are my very good friends and I was so honored to be their photographer. But wait– we have ANOTHER wedding together! The couple is having a bigger event to celebrate their love in September, an occasion I’m pumped to photograph. I can’t wait! xx
