The hot weather and the Air & Water Show could not stop Erin + Lewis from having the best time at their Lincoln Park Conservatory wedding! August in Chicago couldn’t have looked better.
“The day I met Erin, I had actually been on a first date with someone else,” Lewis told me. “This guy I was texting on a dating app had invited me to a party he and his roommate were hosting Memorial Day weekend. That’s where I was introduced to his roommate’s own date, Erin. He probably wouldn’t say this, but that was the best first date I’ve ever been on! I spent the whole time talking and laughing with Erin. We immediately became friends over our shared passion for Studio Ghibli movies, dumb Tumblr memes, and queer lit.
After a month of us finding any possible excuse to hang out every day, we officially became a couple. Falling in love with Erin has been one of the easiest, most natural things I’ve ever done. I’ve fallen only more in love everyday. That’s why I didn’t waste any time to propose to Erin half a year into our relationship.”
The couple got ready separately at the Hotel Lincoln with their families. We spent a lot of time looking out the window to see the last few minutes of the Blue Angels show. Once Erin + Lewis were dressed, they had a first look around the corner from the hotel. Thankfully the area wasn’t filled with beach-going tourists! From there we walked across the street and took some photos by the South Pond near the zoo, eventually making our way over to the Lincoln Park Conservatory.
Erin walked toward the ceremony space with her father, then processed down the aisle toward Lewis as their families watched from their seats. Lewis’ dad officiated their beautiful ceremony. The couple read personal vows to each other that had all of us (myself included) wiping away tears. Once they kissed, we took some family photos before I snagged the couple for some extra portraits around the conservatory. We all then walked back over to the hotel so Lewis could present Erin with his wedding gift to her: a photo album filled with memories of their time dating.
I loved photographing this stunning Lincoln Park Conservatory wedding! What was even better was getting to hang out with Erin + Lewis. I can’t wait to keep in touch with them and see what’s next in their lives together!
