My last event of the year was definitely a BIG ONE! Tiffany + Kip threw the most incredible winter wedding at Starved Rock surrounded by close friends and family.
The day started at some Airbnb’s down the road from the venue. Although the couple got ready separately, their cabins were close enough for the wedding party to bounce back and forth. Kip’s daughter (and also best man) Sophie, for example, had the unique opportunity of helping both the bride and groom get ready for the big day. Once everyone was all dressed and set, we went over to the Starved Rock Lodge to set up for the first look. Tiffany + Kip really wanted their wedding party present during this special moment! Everyone watched and wiped away tears as the couple saw each other for the first time on their long-awaited day.
After the emotional meeting, we all drove down to a photo spot that Tiffany + Kip had picked out ahead of time. A December wedding meant that we weren’t going to run into many people outside, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves! The couple had talked to me ahead of time about getting some fun shots at this location. I loved getting creative with the space and featuring the rock face. Despite the chilly temperatures, we all had a great time outside.
After warming up inside, guests arrived to watch their wedding at Starved Rock Lodge. With twinkle lights and pine tree decor, it truly felt like Tiffany + Kip said “I do” in a magical forest. To add to this theme, the couple decorated their tables with homemade centerpieces, complete with pinecones and candles. I was SHOCKED to learn that it was all DIY, I’ve honestly never seen anything like it!
Following cocktail hour, the guests found their seats and listen to Sophie and Olivia (the Maid of Honor) give heartfelt speeches. A delicious, hearty dinner commenced once everyone had hugged and dried their tears. After everyone had finished and gotten some cake, we all filed into the room next door for dancing. Tiffany + Kip were adamant about having the best party ever, and these two didn’t disappoint! Every guest had an absolute blast dancing to the tunes that the couple had handpicked for the evening. My time with the bride and groom concluded with some creative portraits outside of the lodge.
Tiffany + Kip really put on such a memorable wedding at Starved Rock. We spent the whole day laughing and having a good time, which is what your wedding day should look like. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these two goofballs!
