It’s officially Spring, the PERFECT time to celebrate another fabulous Wedding at Revolution Brewing in Chicago with Audrey + Nino!
“I had made a new friend at work, Laura. We decided to have a geek girl date at The Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo in 2016,” Audrey told me. “I was waiting to meet up with Laura and her husband at the top of the escalators at the C2E2 entrance at McCormick Place on Saturday morning. I spotted them and then noticed a total babe walking behind them… It turned out that babe was Nino, Jeff’s friend he’d known since high school. Little did I know that he thought I was cute too (apparently he also liked my Captain America dress)!
“While in line for the Marvel Comics panel, we bonded over our mutual love of the TV shows Angel & Supernatural. A little less than a week later, during another friend group outing, I fell asleep on Nino’s shoulder while watching Batman v Superman, so we decided that we should probably go on a date. We’ve been talking about movies, eating pizza, and having nerdy adventures ever since.”
The couple got ready in separate rooms at the classic Claridge House in River North. Fun fact about the florals: they are made from upcycled books! Audrey’s bouquet has pages from Pride & Prejudice, Nino’s boutonniere has some from Stephen King, and the bridesmaids all had Harry Potter pages! Once Audrey’s boob-tape was secured (thanks to the help of her mom and bridesmaids!), we met Nino downstairs for their first look. Family + friends watched with teary-eyes as they recorded the moment on their phones. Once we were ready to go, we all hopped in our transportation vehicle and drove over to the South Pond by the Zoo. A Friday wedding on a cloudy day in March meant we had most of the space to ourselves!
After we took some great photos on the bridge and under the Honeycomb, we went back in the van and made our way over to Logan Square. We snapped a few cute shots by the boulevard before going to Emporium. I *loved* that Audrey + Nino scheduled an hour of their day just for them and the wedding party to have a good time. Luckily Emporium is just a couple doors down from their venue, so it was just a quick walk down the block!
The bride + groom had a beautiful ceremony led by their good friend Phil. They exchanged heartfelt vows, rings, and finished with a ceremonial kiss. Audrey + Phil then walked back up the aisle to kick off cocktail hour! Side note: One of the reasons I love doing family photos before the ceremony (as well as a first look) is so that the couple can *really* enjoy cocktail hour with their friends + family. This is one of the best times to be able to talk to everyone who has come to celebrate! Especially at this Revolution Brewing Wedding, so you can clink beer glasses with loved ones!
The delicious food was followed by sweet speeches from the Maid of Honor, the Best Man, and Audrey’s dad. The couple thanked everyone for coming, then shared a first dance to “How Deep is Your Love” by The Bird and The Bee. After, the bride + groom danced with their parents. Then, the REAL party began! I love to see how everyone’s personality shines on a dance floor. Especially their officiant Phil, who is a trained dancer. He and Audrey even did an impromptu Tango to the ever-so popular song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” Every single person in the building was smiling (including, of course, the couple’s young nieces).
